Field Notes / South Otago, Winter Light. Saw it out the corner of my eye. Hit the brakes. Gravel, silence, sheep somewhere in the distance. The chapel looked half-forgotten, but not unloved. Door painted this wild turquoise like someone gave a damn once. Maybe they still do. Hard to say. Place was quiet, like really quiet. The kind that gets under your skin if you stay too long. Didn’t go inside. Places like this keep their own stories. Not chasing meaning. Just chasing the light before the weather changed. One frame. Didn’t need more. If it doesn’t hit in the first frame, it probably never will. That’s it. Move on.

Roslyn Dunedin. We used to build worlds out of nothing. Just a pile of old tyres and a Saturday with nowhere to be. No helmets, no supervision. Just scraped knees, dirty hands, and the thrill of climbing higher. I shot this on film because that’s how it felt. Raw. Unfiltered. No second takes. Black and white strips the noise away. All that’s left is shape, memory, and a reminder. This is how we learned balance by failing. #antipodeanphotographer
