ANALOG: LET IT GO?

On my bike, at the end of a super warm Dunedin day, I catch a glimpse of a scene that I can’t pass by. If I don’t stop now, a lost photographic moment like this will haunt me.

So I’m hitting the brakes hard, throwing the bike onto the grass verge. Helmet/sunglasses off, bag is ripped open… where’s that camera? Check camera settings & run. Are they still there?

Will it be the same scene as I saw as I passed? I take one frame. Recompose and then another.

I joke, tell them how good they look, “that’s what my wife tells me”, one of them replies. Another frame — I could stay longer, but it’s done, it’s in the box.

It’s never perfect. I could’ve got closer. But it’s enough, enough to keep me satisfied.
