Dispatches: The Octopus Hunters

Octopus Hunters – down at the local inlet again last night. I’ve photographed here for the past 5 years or so and I’ve seen many different styles of hunting. Octopus are smart, even playing dead even, lying lifeless on bottom for hours. Watching for their chance to escape. These guys are not so lucky. I do feel for them, fighting to the last. But really what is worse? The type of farming we have in #NewZealand or people collectively seeking food out, in its natural habitat?

Dunedin, New Zealand. (Tongan Octopus Fishing song).
